    Patrick Shipley, the director of government affairs for the California Restaurant Association, said there is a "divergent opinion" over whether the process is inhumane or harmful to the animals.

    He also said the decision to eat foie gras should be left to the consumer.

    "The restaurant industry is an industry of choice in which consumer demand dictates menu," Shipley said.

    San Diego, CA - The California Restaurant Association (CRA) has announced the addition of Patrick Shipley as Director of Local Government Affairs for San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial counties.Shipley joins CRA with extensive experience in state and local politics, public policy, and law.

    "We are pleased to have Patrick on our team, and believe he has the knowledge and drive to help pursue our political needs on a local level," says CRA President and CEO, Jot Condie."With his help, we will continue to work with legislators and position the CRA as a strong force in regional and statewide issues, representing the needs of our restaurant members."

    Prior to joining the California Restaurant Association, Shipley worked as an attorney for the law firm of White and Oliver in San Diego.His background includes five years of general civil, business and employment litigation practice, and two years of legislative work.He served as a Jesse Marvin Unruh Fellow in the California State Assembly, and then as a Legislative Aide to Assemblyman Charles Poochigian.Shipley was also a certified legal intern for the San Diego District Attorney's Office, and a Congressional Intern for Congressman Dana Rohrabacher in Washington, D.C.

    Shipley is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara and the University of San Diego School of Law.He will be working out of CRA's San Diego office.
