Shawn Shingler, a construction manager with Trilogy Construction, Inc., part of Bolin Family Companies, is heading the construction part of the project.
He said Smith called him up and asked if the project would be something the men's ministry at the CMA church would be interested in.
The reason for that was because the men's ministry team went to Mexico some time ago and built a house in eight days, he said.
"She thought, 'Wow, that would be cool if we could do that locally for someone in need'," he said.
Rosie took Shingler and the men's ministry pastor to the house where they looked around and decided it would be a good project.
...
Shingler said it has "really snowballed: into a project with several churches in the community trying to help.
"Manpower is not a problem," Shingler said.
"I believe the people in the community will reach out I had a number of people contact me and say they want to be involved."
Some of the volunteers lined up are in the building trade, and will help with the electrical, plumbing and flooring aspects of the project, he said, adding that he's glad people have seen this project a worthy cause and pitched in to help the family.
The biggest challenges will be getting the material and donations needed for the house, as well as for building permits, Shingler said.
Once they start work, Shingler said it will take approximately three months until Raisler and her daughter can move back into their home.
