The videos were co-produced by Phil Shingler, who is a part-time lecturer at Falmouth College of Arts, where he teaches moving image to students on the College's degree courses in Broadcasting and Graphic Design.
During the making of the videos for the Cornwall Deaf Children's Society, Phil trained the young deaf people featured to use video filming and editing equipment, helping them to produce their own story. The production group called themselves "Very Real Productions" and demonstrated real talent. ‘It has been a privilege working with such a motivated group of young deaf people.Their achievements are remarkable" adds Phil.
In all, eight deaf young people were featured, each of whom attended the special showing at Eden and were presented with their own copy of their video by Lady Mary Holborow, Honorary President of Cornwall Children's Deaf Society. She praised the videos and the work that had gone into producing them, adding "It's fantastic to see these youngsters being given such wonderful opportunities in the county".
