  David Shields is a General Partner of Accede. Prior to Accede, David was the head of Deutsche Bank Capital Partners in Australia from 1993 to 2005. Under his leadership, he won and retained the largest private equity mandate in Australia and grew FUM for private equity from $325M to over $2B. David has worked on scores of transactions which have realised well over $1B of returns for investors spanning the full spectrum of private equity transactions including venture capital, expansion capital and infrastructure.
  
  David has served as a Director and chaired numerous Boards including CEA, APAC and Mediherb. Prior to DB, David was an Executive Director at Advent, Director Investments and Advisory at AIDC and Managing Director of the listed venture capital company Australia Pacific Technology Ltd. In the early 1980's David established and managed a portfolio of private equity investments for the Pratt family.
  
  David holds a BE (Hons) from the University of Sydney and an MBA from Melbourne University.

In this role David had a general responsibility for all private equity deals. Specific deals with directorships included International Parking Group, Australia Pacific Airports Corporation and MediHerb. Prior to his role at DB Capital Partners, David spent four years managing private equity investments with AIDC Limited. David holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours from the University of Sydney and a MBA from the University of Melbourne.

David Shields graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sydney and from the University of Melbourne with a Masters of Business Administration. He has led several private equity investments for AIDC Limited, including Optus, Statewide Roads and Wyuna Water and was Managing Director of the listed venture investor, Australian Pacific Technology Limited.He also worked as executive director of Advent Management Group. David joined Deutsche Asset Management in 1993 as the director of the private equity team.
