Northcliffe Club President David Shields, said the great result really comes down to amazing work of the young people in the club.

"We have a great group of young people who sacrifice everything to be the best at what they do and keep Northcliffe at the top," he said.

Northcliffe president David Shields said close friends from the club had been at Murphy's bedside since early yesterday morning.

"Everyone at the club is very upset," he said. "Especially the young guys and girls.

"A lot have been up to the hospital.

Mr Shields said Aaron had worked at the Northcliffe club until 11pm on Wednesday night and then had stayed on to watch the New Year's Eve midnight fireworks from there.
