That perception notwithstanding , the publicity White has received from the South High incident has been overwhelmingly favorable.The school district's response is now being touted as a national model for halting school violence.But absent hard facts , there's only one rampage at South High that can be affirmatively linked to Columbine -- the one instigated by White and perpetrated by the media.

Cache Valley Broadcasting Company put Logan's KYNU on the air in 1938, and Herschel Bullen and his son Reed joined with Dan B. Shields, a Salt Lake attorney, in 1944 to purchase the station.

Attorney William T. Whitaker of Akron is representing Pacifico and attorney Daniel Shields of Cleveland is representing Melfi.

Dan Shields , an attorney for two of the students questioned , said one of them had a map of the school only because he was new to South High and was getting in trouble for being late to class.

And that's what is now being turned into this map and this plot thing , he told CNN.

White would not give details of the alleged plot or confirm a report by The Plain Dealer that the students told police they planned to use guns and homemade explosives to kill teachers , administrators and fellow students.

The newspaper reported that the massacre was planned for just before noon , when students would open fire in the cafeteria and the principal's office.The students also planned a suicidal shootout with police in a school courtyard , the newspaper said.

Those details were reminiscent of the worst school shooting in U.S. history , the April 20 massacre at Columbine High in Littleton.
