Dan Shields has worked in the internet field since 2004, when he graduated from Washtenaw Community College with an associate’s degree as an Internet Professional.
Dan worked as an intern with Ann Arbor web design firm QLTD where he developed websites for Peter Morville, one of the fathers of the information architecture field, the annual SIGGRAPH Conference website, and the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
After finishing his internship, Dan began working as a freelance/contract web developer where he worked with several web firms and individual clients to develop websites for numerous small businesses.
In 2006, Dan was contracted through Fry Inc., Michigan’s largest e-commerce development firm, as a front-end developer, working with a team of developers to create the Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor LOFT, and Ann Taylor’s call center websites.
Dan also served as the lead front-end developer for Maytag’s Jenn Air website.
His experience with e-commerce development, superior front-end skills, attention to detail, and overall passion for the internet led him to Niche Retail, LLC where he works as a software engineer.
Dan’s role at Niche Retail includes full ownership of front-end development and standards set forth with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
In addition, Dan also works with a team of software engineers to develop applications with JAVA, Ruby on Rails, and PHP.
