The properties at 204-208 W. Norwegian St., 4 and 6 N. Third St. and 3 N. Second St. were recently donated to Barefield by Sovereign Bank, according to Barefield's chief executive officer, Craig S. L. Shields, who is also executive director of the Pottsville Housing Authority.

The property at 3 N. Second, which housed the former Spice Rack restaurant, is being renovated.A new restaurant will open there as will three apartments for rent, Shields said.

E&S Construction, Saint Clair, recently reinforced the roof there, he added.

Meanwhile, the former flower shop at 204-208 W. Norwegian St. and the buildings at 4-6 N. Third St. will be torn down to make room for a parking lot for the restaurant, the apartments and The Pottsville Free Public Library, Shields said.

"We're hoping to be able to have 15 to 20 parking spaces there," he added.
