Janet was formerly employed by the Howell Public Schools where she worked for fifteen years as a high school librarian.She spent a total of 23 years in education.She is currently the Office Manager in the practice of her husband and fellow Frankenmuth Rotarian, James F. Shetlar, M.D. President Tom has assigned Janet to the following committees: Bavarian Festival Float; Group Study Exchange; Family of Rotary; and Guest Book, Greeter & Fellowship.

Janet was born in Mendon, Michigan, and received Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees from Alma College.Her Master of Library Science degree is from Central Michigan University.

Janet and Jim Shetlar were married in May, 2002, and have a combined adult family of six children -- Amy, Sarah, Michael, Thomas, David, and Marisa.
