For Vignette Corp., a Web content management company in Austin, Texas, training began with the executives, according to Vishal Sheth, the company's internal agile coach.
Vignette enlisted some external coaches from global consultancy Valtech to work with the management team.
"It really helped get momentum through the ranks," he said.
"Once the executives were bought in, it took away lot of impediments."
Vignette then proceeded to do what Subu Subramanian, senior director of engineering, called "just-in-time training.
Initially, as teams were ready to begin a new project, Valtech would conduct a two-day training session in Scrum, covering the principles and practices, release planning and sprint planning.
Vignette also had Sheth attend Scrum coaching sessions, and he eventually trained the rest of the Vignette teams.
