Agam R. Sheth, Ph.D. Awarded the APhA Ebert Prize
WASHINGTON, DC - The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is pleased to announce that Agam R. Sheth, Ph.D., of West Point, Pennsylvania, has received the 2005 Ebert Prize for the best report of original investigation of a medicinal substance as published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the past year.

Dr. Sheth will receive the award at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition for the paper entitled "Dehydration Kinetics of Piroxicam Monohydrate and Relationship to Lattice Energy and Structure".Lead author, Dr. Sheth and his co-authors Deliang Zhou, Francis Muller and the late Dr. David Grant utilized a model-free approach to describe the complex dehydration kinetics of piroxicam.

Dr. Sheth is Senior Research Chemist at Merck Research Laboratories, where his responsibilities include preformulation and basic research support; Dr. Sheth's research interest lies in solid-state organic chemistry, particularly the structure-property relationship of pharmaceutical crystals.He is the author of several peer-reviewed publications and has presented at several national and international scientific meetings.
A member of the American Chemical Society and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Dr. Sheth held an office at APhA from 2002 - 2003.He is a recipient of the 2002 Walter F. Enz Research Award in Pharmaceutics and is a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society.Dr. Sheth obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics at the University of Minnesota.
