Former early childhood educator and owner of Bags 2 Go in Oakville, Ontario, Janet Shepherd suggested a hand puppet, a felt board with large felt stick-ons, a couple of 4 piece puzzles, a new book and a related themed soft animal. (about $20 from Bags 2 Go.)
Plane: Babies under two years may fly without a ticket (and thus without an official seat.) Many parents see the discomfort of having baby on their lap for the duration as a small inconvenience compared to the cost of a seat.Occasionally there are discounts for children, but often a seat is a seat, regardless. Why buy a seat for a baby?Besides comfort, it's the only way you can ensure you'll be able to use a Transport Canada or FAA approved child restraint.Although infant restraints in the air are not required by law (and seem to be considered a nuisance by some airlines) there is a case for their use.In a catastrophic situation, they are probably of little advantage; (air crashes are quite different from car crashes).
