At the time of the original publication, Arthur A. Shenfield was an economist and Barrister-at-law.He was president of the Mont Pelerin Society from 1972-1974. He has recently been engaged as Visiting Distinguished Professor of Economics at Rockford College, Illinois, having also taught at the Graduate Schools of Business of the University of Chicago and Temple University, Philadelphia.From 1971-73 he served as director of the International Institute for Economic Research in London.

Professor Arthur Shenfield opened that meeting with papers in honor of Bruno Leoni, and the meeting ended with a dinner in honor of Professor Hayek, who also spoke.
