Bessie Shelton

Born in Allerton, Iowa, to Dale and Bessie (Adams) Shelton, she grew up in Corydon, Iowa, and graduated from Corydon High School in 1941.She moved to Bremerton in 1943 and married William Walton July 4, 1947, in Olympia.

Before coming to Bremerton, she worked as a secretary at the National Defense School and at U.S. Rubber in Des Moines, Iowa, and as an interviewer with Dupont in Hanford.Later, she was employed as a secretary at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and at NAD in Bremerton until 1947.
