Benny Shelton

The final testimony in the hearing came from Capt. Benny Shelton of the Cocke County Sheriff's Office.

He said he received a call that there was an escape from the jail and that two men had escaped and two had attempted to escape.

Shelton spoke about the charges that were filed at the time of the escape.

Under cross-examination by the defense, Shelton was questioned about the way cameras worked in the cellblock.

He told attorneys there was one camera in the cellblock and two cameras that can see portions of the corridor.

Shelton testified that somebody pushed the button to open the door for Swafford and Harris, but the cameras did not show who.

The video also did not show Harris striking anyone during the escape and Harris did not admit to striking anyone during the escape, according to Shelton.
