   Jennifer Shelstead, Education Coordinator, was born in San Diego, California. She received her B.S. in Biology at San Diego State University in 1997. During her college education years, she worked as a preschool teacher, and after-school care teacher. After graduating, Jennifer pursued a career in science at Scripps Institute of Oceanography as a Research Assistant in the Physical Oceanography Department. During her time at Scripps, she also worked aboard Merchant Marine Vessels as a Research Scientists for NOAA and Scripps Institute of Oceanography throughout the Pacific Ocean. However, to fulfill her passion in both science and education, she moved to Topanga and accepted the position at the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountain's Education Coordinator. She now resides in Topanga, California.
