Because of this we have come up with another calendar in case the Legislator forces our hand on this," said Edgewood ISD Superintendent Jack Shellnutt.
He continued, "I recommend approving what the Site Based Committee has but also have this second option in case this calendar is shot down by the Legislature."

There is a settlement now, our part of the settlement is $5,000, the rental company was ordered to pay $60,000 and the people that manufactured the slide $10,000," said Shellnutt.
He continued, "After all the hearings and testimony, with them having to pay $60,000 of it and the manufacturer $10,000 and us only $5,000, I think it is pretty evident that we had very little to do with what happened.
It was definitely the rental company's problem.
The rental company was supposed to have an attendant here at the time people were on that slide and it was supposed to be anchored down."
•Tax collection reports were given to the board."Our tax collections are still very good, it looks like we are going to get close to 100 percent again this year," said Shellnutt.
•The Legislative report was given by Shellnutt.
"In House Bill 2, they have revamped everything as far as assessment goes..I think it is sad, but they are going to give 13 exit level exams on the high school campuses, if you pass you get credit for the course, if you fail you do not get credit for the course.A lot of you went to college in this room and you never had a class in college, I would venture to say, where you took one test and it would be the pass or fail on a final exam," said Shellnutt.
He continued, "We are making it harder for secondary students to get credit, that is what is in House Bill 2..
