Bob Shellman, Odyssey's CEO, was previously in charge of UniGlobal Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Union Carbide.
When Dow Chemical acquired Union Carbide in 2001, Shellman convinced the new owners to allow UniGlobal to go private.
Odyssey, the reborn company, was launched in December 2002.
"We started with 15 employees right here in Danbury," said Shellman, a Southbury resident.

Shellman said Odyssey is on pace to fill about 1 million shipping orders by the end of this year, moving a total $24 billion worth of products.
"We allow companies to concentrate on their core business.They outsource the transportation logistical management to us," Shellman said.
