   KILLINGLY -- Betti Sheldon of Danielson knows how difficult it can be to find a parking space at the Killingly Community Center on Broad Street.
   
   Sheldon, who serves as vice president of the Killingly-Brooklyn Cultural Development Foundation, attends the foundation's monthly meetings there and also frequently must stop there to coordinate Springtime Festival plans with Parks and Recreation Director Tom Dooley.

   The carnival, provided by Brownstone Amusements, will open at 6 p.m. weeknights and at noon Saturday and Sunday, according to Betti Sheldon, chairwoman of the Killingly-Brooklyn Cultural Development Foundation, which sponsors the Springtime Festival.
   
   Sheldon said making this year's festival more significant is a partnership with the committee planning the 150th anniversary of the Borough of Danielson and its fire department.

   The festival, sponsored annually by the Killingly-Brooklyn Cultural Development Foundation, will begin May 5 and run through May 15, Betti Sheldon, foundation president, said.
   
   This year's festival will recognize the 150th anniversary of the Borough of Danielson and the Danielson Fire Department. The anniversary will serve as the theme for festival events, Sheldon said.
   
   As part of that celebration, the borough and fire department will sponsor a Family Day, with a variety of games and other entertainment at Davis Park in Danielson May 16.
   
   "We're very pleased to be able to honor the borough and its fire department and to be able to partner with them to celebrate their historic milestone," Sheldon said.

   Nearly 30 young women have begun rehearsals under the direction of Pauline Moore and Sheldon to prepare for the event.
