   Amanda Sheldon, a student member of the Cal Aggie Christian Association, identified her group as progressive, but said it was often a challenge to find other progressive Christians.
   
   "It´s very difficult for students who are not fundamental Christians to find a place in Davis," Sheldon said. She said groups like Campus Crusade for Christ and Grace Alive! have "lots of funding and lots of members," which increases their on-campus presence.

   Sheldon, a political science major, said she did plan to attend seminary after leaving UCD. She attributed some of the strength of fundamentalist groups to the fact that Northern California is a conservative region and many students come from nearby communities. She said there are many interfaith events locally, which are one way that progressive churches reach out to other communities.
