Mrs. Lionel Theodore Shelby

Lionel Theodore Shelby, 95, of Atlantic St., Hopewell, died Thursday, January 3, 2002 in John Randolph Medical Center.He was born in Lumberton, N.C. and was a resident of this area since 1920.Mr. Shelby was a veteran of WWII, a retired accounting clerk for Allied/Signal and a member of the Powers Memorial Baptist Church.He was the son of the late Richard Wearn and Elizabeth Robinson Shelby.Surviving are his wife, Columbia Lee Lewis Shelby of Hopewell and several nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jaunary 7, 2002, in Powers Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. James Rogers, pastor, officiating.Interment will be in the Appomattox Cemetery.The family requests no flowers.Arrangements being made by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home.
