The Paul Baker Award: Mr. Robert B. Sheffield, CHT received the Paul C. Baker Award for "dedicated service and many contributions to hyperbaric safety and the entire hyperbaric community".Mr. Sheffield has served on many UHMS committees during his long relationship with the Associates, which dates back to 1986.He is currently serving as the Chairman of the UHMS Safety Committee.He began his career in hyperbaric medicine as a Medical Assistant in 1986 at the Jefferson C. Davis Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center in San Antonio, Texas where his immediate supervisor was Paul C. Baker.His career saw him progress to the position of Safety Officer of a major multiplace facility in Oklahoma City in 1994.He served in that position for two years.During the next five years he served in the position of Program Administrator and then as Director of Clinical Services/Safety Director of a prominent Management and Wound Care Group.He currently serves as the Director of Education of the International ATMO, Corporation, San Antonio, Texas.Mr. Rob Sheffield is a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist with Distinction.An achievement attained by fewer than ten percent of those individuals taking the NBDHMT examination.He is well published in the field and has contributed a chapter in "Hyperbaric Facility Safety: A Practical Guide" entitled "Emergency Procedures".
