  GDEF Director of Community Relations Janet Sheffield announced the grants at the April 4th GDRSD School Committee meeting.Coincidentally, at that meeting educators from the District's Science and Technology departments gave a presentation on how students are using Vernier lab equipment, technology which was made possible by earlier grants from the Foundation and for which more funding is being provided this grant cycle.Said Ms. Sheffield, "It's always exciting to see the grants GDEF awards "in action"!

  The GDEF is also pleased to announce that Groton resident Janet Sheffield was recently appointed as Co-Director of Fundraising for this non-profit organization.Janet has been and will continue to be an active and contributing volunteer for the Groton Dunstable Regional School District and has already been working diligently on behalf of the Ed Foundation, running the Teaching Star Program.Janet says, "It's been very satisfying working on the Groton Dunstable Education Foundation's Teaching Stars Program to recognize our outstanding educators.I look forward to working with the talented, dedicated directors and volunteers of GDEF to raise grant money for innovative programs in our schools."If community members have any questions for Janet, she can be reached at jsheffield@gdefinc.org.

  Janet Sheffield, a board member of the Groton Dunstable Alliance for Youth, a community coalition promoting healthy lifestyles among youths, supports the debt exclusion.She said she doesn't want to see town and school services reduced.But she said she still feels confused about the difference between debt exclusion and a tax override.
