Jessica Sheets, a grant consultant and director of business development for Innovative Consulting Group Inc., told the commissioners Thursday that she met with officials from Woodward Township and the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to help faciliate a grant to improve the township boat launch in Lockport.
...
The total cost is estimated at $254,000, including a township match of $14,500, Sheets said.
She said the grant application is due by April, with an announcement in August and possible construction this fall.
Meanwhile, she reported work continues on the correction of sewer problems in several municipalities.
A pre-construction meeting was held recently regarding sewer improvements under Woods Avenue in Flemington, Sheets said. That work is to begin Monday, detouring traffic until May or so. That section of road will be repaved after the sewer work.
Sheets said sewer improvements in the west side of Flemington still need to be addressed.
In other municipalities, Sheets reported Woodward Township is working on a two-year plan to address its sewer problems, Castanea Township should be done with its sewer work by the end of the year, and Mill Hall should begin to replace some of its remaining bad sewer lines next month.
Mill Hall is being fined $100 a day since Jan. 1 for violations of its consent order with the state Department of Environmental Protection.
That borough still needs to complete sewer work under three streets: Market, East Arch and West Church.
"They have all the money they need to comply with the consent order and complete the projects," Sheets said, noting that a loan likely won't be finalized until next month.
Sheets said once the above issues are addressed, "we're pretty much complete with everything except for what (Lock Haven) that has not been looked at or addressed." Then, she said, work in other parts of the county, including replacement of sewer lines in Loganton, will be reviewed. -
