    Paul Shannon, Diamond Technologies, Inc.

Diamond Technologies, Inc. has developed a software package called the Gemological Visualization System (GVS), that scientifically analyzes, via the computer, the visual performance of a diamond's cut.Becase of this work, I have a slightly different take on what constitutes a well cut diamond.Assuming a diamond has a good finish or polish, there is more to it than just a predetermined set of proportions the industry has deemed "ideal".

In my years of analyzing thousands of proportion and facet pattern combinations, I have found numerous combinations that yield finished diamonds with a look that equals or in some cases outperforms these ideal makes. However, the current pricing methods place premiums on ideal makes while devaluing those makes that are off this standard.
