   Denise Seif, the Gallery Director, is herself a very fine artist. Her three broaches, (Untitled) carved in wood and inspired by dogwood twigs and orchid plants, are exquisite in both craftsmanship and design. Seif received her Master of Fine Arts from Kent State University in metals. She also has a Master of Arts from Eastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the UI at Champaign-Urbana in art history. She took the position as Art Gallery Director at Parkland in 1991 and continues to do an exceptional job there. She also teaches Art History and Metalwork/Jewelry at Parkland. Seif said that this year's exhibition has really expanded and includes more 3D design, sculpture and metals. She also noted that courses in fine art at Parkland are thriving. With every section full, Seif said, "It's encouraging. The faculty show really reflects what you can do in the classes here at Parkland."
   
   With an artist's statement like, "Excuse me, I have to go turn up a kiln!"
