   Now University of California agricultural economist Jerry Seibert has put numbers to losses caused by Eutypa, and the figures are staggering. On the high end, he estimates the industry loses $260 million annually. You can bet numbers like those will catch the attention of lawmakers who hold the purse strings for research funding.
   
   Eutypa is but one of the subjects we plan to cover. In coming months, we'll explore cover crops for vineyards, DOV mechanical harvesting, plant growth regulators for table grapes, disease management and deficit irrigation, just to name a few subjects.

   Jerry Seibert : Seibert is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics for the University of California at Berkeley. Seibert serves as as an ex-officio member of the California State Consolidated Farm Services Committee , a public member to the California Walnut Commission and a member of the board directors of the International Agribusiness Management Association.
