   Bruce A. Segall , president-elect of the N.J. Staff Development Council , has served as elementary school principal at Mahwah's Commodore Perry School and director of staff development in the district since 1995. He formerly was principal of Mahwah High School for 11 years.
   
   Previously he worked as a middle and high school principal in Greene Central School in Greene , N.Y. , for three years and at Alfred-Almond Central School for five years before that. In both districts , he also taught in the adult education programs part time. From 1970 to 1974 , he was teacher supervisor for 22 high schools in the Diocese of Rockville Center on Long Island , N.Y. Between 1974 and 1976 he worked as a manager for Segan Entertainment Inc. in Levittown , N.Y..
   
   He taught philosophy as an adjunct professor for one year each at Suffolk Community College , Molloy College , and Ramapo College , as well as from 1971 to 1973 at C.W. Post/Long Island University.
   
   He has served on the senior faculty at the Principal's Center at Princeton University from 1996 to the present.
   
   Segall has been president of the Mahwah Principals Association since 1990. He is a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals , the N.J. Principals and Supervisors Association , and ASCD.
   
   He holds a B.A. in philosophy and education from the University of Dayton , and M.A. degrees in history and theology from St. John's University. He has done additional graduate work in philosophy at the New School for Social Research and in education at C.W. Post at Long Island University.
   
   Segall's term on the Standards Board runs for three years.
