DANIEL HAS THE KEY TO A NEW CAREER Published on Friday, October 8th 2004 By LYNDSEY WRIGHT
GETTING to work has never been easier for 16-year-old Daniel Segal after he was handed the keys to a new Suzuki scooter.
Daniel, who lives in Acomb, is the first person to benefit from a new transport initiative designed to help people in rural Tynedale get to work.
Tynedale Wheels to Work aims to improve employment prospects by allowing them to loan a moped or a car for the first 12 months of their job or training placement.
With his new scooter, Daniel, who left school last year and is now training to be a children's instructor with the Outdoor Trust, is able to make the trip from his home in Acomb to work at Dukeshouse Wood without having to rely on lifts from his mum.
He said: "I couldn't afford my own transport and living in a remote area, public transport was difficult. -
