   Islamic finance, epitomized by its principle that limits the use of interest, is a safe financing that could help protect the world from a financial crisis, such as the ongoing U.S. subprime meltdown, according to the head of the Middle East¡¯s fastest growing bank.
   
   Raghavan Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank, said a broad understanding of Islamic finance could help Korea tap into an ample source of funding from the oil-rich region.
   
   Seetharaman made his remarks in an interview Friday when he visited the bank¡¯s office in Seoul.

   Seetharaman said a single glitch in one of those derivatives topples all the other derivatives in a domino effect, as evidenced by the U.S. subprime mortgages.
   
   Islamic finance, he claimed, is very much disciplined in this matter.
   
   ¡°The Islamic financial institutions don¡¯t resort to creative accounting, they don¡¯t get into derivatives and they don¡¯t leverage assets,¡± he said.
   
   Islamic finance creates profits mainly out of the investment in projects where borrowers participate in sharing the risk, a partnership for which Seetharaman calls the Islamic banking a ¡°pure human form of banking.¡±
