Director of Schools Dr. David Roper and Elizabethton High School Principal Dr. Pamela Scott both said they felt a simpler policy would be best because, as Scott told the board, "it just adds more red tape."

In a conversation as late as Thursday morning with the STAR, Dr. Pamela Scott, EHS principal, announced that Congressman Ford would be the graduation speaker.

Elizabethton High School Principal Dr. Pam Scott is concerned with our findings.

After we told her what we found at her school, she told us she would take extra efforts to make sure EHS' doors are locked at night, saying "We take school security very seriously."

Washington County Director of Schools Grant Rowland tells us there was a cleaning crew inside Boones Creek Elementary at the time of our visit, but they didn't see us.

Still, he says this school is secure, "We have spent a tremendous amount of money out there to make it as safe and secure as possible, but I do appreciate you letting us know about the doors being open.
