Suffragan Bishop Pettiford is rejoicing with the wife of his youth, Sister Freddie Pettiford, with whom he exchanged vows on January 3, 1961.They are the proud parents of five children and grandparents of fifteen, one deceased.God has been gracious to this couple and has truly blessed them in great and miraculous ways. His favorite saying, 'I've got a feeling that every little old thing is going to be alright' is reflected in his disposition and attitude as he moves in faith trusting in the Lord.

Elder Gillispie, being led of God, contacted the late Bishop P.L. Scott (then District Elder Scott) of the Lively Stone Church of God in St. Louis, Mo. Bishop Scott baptized Elder Gillespie and saints in the name of Jesus.Worshiping in the basement of two faithful members of this assembly, Brother ans Sister Adams, this small group of Apostolic warriors began. For one year, under adverse health conditions, Elder Gillispie continued to lead this mission in the Apostolic way.In 1953, because of continued failing health, Elder Gillispie passed the mantel of leadership to the late Elder Harold Clemons Sr., and anointed Minister of God.The Lord continued to bless this mission and under the efficient leadership of Elder Clemons, in the year of 1955, they moved from their basement residence to a building located at 4012 Bond Ave., Alorton, IL.It was at this time that the mission took the name by which it is presently recognized today, "THE HOUSE OF PRAYER TO ALL NATIONS."During the year of 1959 or early 1960 Elder Clemons left the East St. Louis area to work in another portion of God's vineyard.
