Mr. Mark Schweitzer MSc , BSc , PE ( USA ) is a International Rolling Mill Expert with over 20 years of extensive experience in the industry.
His expertise mainly cover the design , process engineering , power & load calculations , process audit & review , maintenance , and the training required for the operation of rolling mills . Currently, Mr. Schweitzer is the Managing Director of Falcata , DBA Capital Rolls whereby he spearheads the major operations of providing rolls and guide to rolling mills . At the same time, he is the President of Schweitzer Rolling Technology where they offer roll pass design process engineering and provide training programs for existing and new ferrous and non-ferrous rolling mills . He has successfully handled numerous projects such as the FEM rolling simulation & analysis for Steel Dynamics , a Mill audit and Roll pass review for US Steel , the Pass design , power and load calculations , and setup sheets for Jindal Steel West , the Pass design , roll drawings and rolling simulation for Bayou Steel , Ameristeel , Franklin Industries & Nocur Steel , and the roll barrel layout , pass design , power and load calculations for Arkansas Steel .
With his lengthy experience and indisputable expertise , Mr. Schweitzer has built up a formidable reputation in his design , inspection , i nstallation and maintenance of rolling mills . Much earlier in his career life, he has worked with numerous international companies fulfilling challenging roles as Pass Design Services Manager , and Roll Pass Chief Engineer , where he took charge of the selection of rolling mill stands, drive systems, and production processes for new mill installations and upgrades of existing facilities, redesigned roughing mill passes, the creation of roll pass designs and process engineering for existing and new ferrous and non-ferrous rolling mills, implemented the roll pass software for the calculation of rolling force, power, and speeds for ferrous mill systems, including gear drive ratio determination, spindle requirements and motor specifications, and the development and presentation of training courses for metallurgists, engineers and management personnel.
Mr. Schweitzer has a Masters Degree in Engineering.
He is a well-respected member of the Association for Iron and Steel Technology ( AIST ), the Arbeitsgemeinshaft Internationaler Kalibreure und Walzwerksingenieure ( AIKW ). Mr. Schweitzer is a Certified Mater Roll Designer and even heads the Certification Review Board for the Institute of Roll Design ( IRD ).
