Schwartz, who claims to have discovered the physical cause of stuttering, the 'laryngospasm' (Schwartz, 'Fluency', published by The National Center For Stuttering [Schwartz's own organization], New York, 1989).He offers a model of treatment based on this assertion.While Dr. Schwartz never directly claims to be able to cure stuttering, he hints strongly that he can do so.In fall of 1991 I paid a significant amount of money to Dr. Schwartz to be in his therapy program, and worked through his exercises for a year, but I attained no increase in speech fluency.Dr. Schwartz is not a member of The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
