    World Bank's Consultant, Development Economics Prospects Group, Philip Schuler said that the number of tariff slabs should be downward revised while making indirect taxes uniform.

    He said transparency in the trade policy could also make Pakistani economy more competitive in the coming SAFTA arrangement.

    He appreciated Pakistani government for rationalising the tariff system ahead of SAFTA and WTO regimes.

    Schuler said that uniformity of taxes could be helpful in easy collection of the revenue.
