Schreiber deflected the praise.
"Warren Township has just always been a good place to be," he said."I've been lucky to be with a lot of great people -- great educators -- and I couldn't have asked for more."
In recent years, Schreiber has known students whose parents he also knew as students, he said.
"If I hung around much longer, it'd be grandkids coming along," Schreiber said."It's just really neat to see those second generations coming along."
Schreiber had contemplated retirement for a while, he said, but a conversation with his mother helped seal his decision.
"She's 91," he said.
