Robert E. Schreiber Sr.

Robert E. "Bob" Schreiber Sr., 86, of La Crosse died Friday, May 9, 2003, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

He was born in Rock Island, Ill., on April 23, 1917, to Edward J. and Emily (Dey) Schreiber.He married Phyllis Schwartz on June 3, 1944, in Missoula, Mont.

Bob served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post No. 52.He worked for the Trane Co. for more than 44 years before retiring in 1981.After his retirement, Bob served as a volunteer escort at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

Bob was an avid fisherman and a skilled woodcarver.He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.He also was a longtime, active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse, a member of the National Woodcarver's Association and a member of the Trane Co.25 Year Club.
