Joachim has worked at Microsoft, most in the area of testing, but he has also worked for localization projects for two years, including a stint with Microsoft Project User Assistance (UA).He is a native of Germany.

Joachim Schneider, a former Microsoft contractor, encouraged students to follow their hearts.

"I'm pursuing my own interests in a way I've never done before," said Schneider, who earned his Ph.D. in sociology and psychology from the UW in 1998 and now works as a certified career and meditation coach and moonlights as a motivational singer and songwriter in his spare time.

Schneider believes he is destined to help those interested in pursuing their goals.

"I've been on quite a trip myself," he said.
