IAG Chairman and CEO Derek Schneideman says the company's mission is to grow the businesses they invest in, to optimize their potential and provide increasing returns on investment over the long run.In Japan, IAG's biggest subsidiary is telemarketer Global Hotline.IAG also recently bought 100% of the outsourcing business division of LINC Media, Inc; ESPRIT Inc; and it has stakes in executive search firm Slate Consulting and GPlus Media (which publishes Japan Today, GaijinPot, ECentral, Tokyo Apartment.com, Japan Keibai.com and ChinaSplash.com).
Born in New Zealand, Schneideman has 30 years experience working in the Asia-Pacific region and North America.During his career, he has served as president of Gateway Japan Inc, was a senior executive adviser to the Softbank Asia Pacific Investment Fund; was president and CEO of CTR Ventures Co, and managing director for Computer Associates, Inc (CAI) in Japan, Korea and New Zealand.He joined IA Global last February.
With the company's focus in Asia-Pacific, Schneideman spends about 80% of his time in Japan, Hong Kong, China and the Philippines.Japan Today editor Chris Betros catches up with Schneideman during a recent visit to Tokyo and finds the affable New Zealander manages to combine a laid back manner with a successful no-nonsense approach to business.
