   Randy Schmitke, CPA, Executive Director of POINT, presented to the shareholders the financial and contract information for the past year. Mr. Schmitke stated that POINT added 17 contracts in the past year bringing the total to 38. From these managed care contracts, almost 6,000 orthotic and prosthetic referrals/claims were processed through the network's centralized billing system by 56 shareholders in 11 states. Mr. Schmitke emphasized that the volume of claims processed through POINT has doubled each of the last three years.
   
   When discussing POINT's contracting efforts for the next year Mr. Schmitke commented that "the contracting process is often a long, difficult road, but if a facility equips itself with the right tools, it has a better chance at succeeding and securing access to market share. And in today's health care environment, access is very critical and not guaranteed. We believe that POINT is simply another tool for our shareholders in their contracting efforts and we have demonstrated our ability to secure contracts on both a national and regional level". Since the shareholder meeting, Mr. Schmitke states that POINT has secured 4 more managed care contracts affecting providers in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio and he says several others in different regions are in the final stages of completion.
   
   In addition to presenting the contracting information, Mr Schmitke presented POINT's continued strategies for growth. He outlined growth strategies by stating, "in December of 1998 POINT finalized the paperwork and prepared its operational infrastructure to begin to add qualified facilities to its shareholdership. Our efforts are to continue to pursue offering a strong national network of independent providers to managed care payers." Mr. Schmitke emphasized that "POINT's growth efforts do not involve exclusivity for given geographic areas, but rather simply the partnering of quality, like-minded, independent facilities."

   Randolph W. Schmitke , C.P.A. , MBA , has accepted the role of chief financial officer for O & P Digital Technologies and its sister company , Medical Media Technologies. He was formerly executive director of Point Health Centers of America , a national network of independent clinical orthotic and prosthetic facilities.
