If you want a physical workout, volunteer coordinator Sue Schmidt recommends the topsail demonstration crew on board the park's historic Balclutha sailing ship moored at Hyde Street Pier.

"You have to climb up in the air 60 feet on the rigging and set the sails, " Schmidt said.

Vessels also need repainting, varnishing, engineering, and maybe even a sailing crew.Schmidt recommends a once-a-week volunteering commitment to maintain momentum, although any contribution is welcome.
