On July 1, 1996, Jay Schilling, and his wife Vicki, joined our congregation as our Youth/Music Pastor, Jay is developing and encouraging activities programs for our youth as well as leading our worship teams and choirs.

In early August 2004, the church board asked Pastor Jay to pray and consider switching from Youth pastor and becoming the church Worship pastor.He accepted and now leads us musically in our weekly celebration services.

"My life revolved around sports..."

...Pastor Jay would say this of himself before his commitment to put Christ above all else. At age 14, Jay accepted Christ as Savior, when he first heard of God's love through Christ. God revealed Himself in a unique way to Jay through a video that featured several NFL football players. They shared what was most important to them- their relationship with Christ. "I heard for the first time-from my heroes- that there was something more important in life than sports. It was then that Jay realized his need for a Savior and made his commitment to Christ. From that point on everything began to change.

An only child, Jay grew up in California, near San Francisco. He married Vicki in 1993, before moving to Washington to earn a Master's degree in Music from the U of Washington (1996). During their time in Seattle, Jay decided to serve the Lord vocationally and began the search. Soon after, Jay was called to join the GEBC staff in July '96 where he has served as Youth and Music Pastor. He became our first full-time Youth Pastor from 2000 - 2004. And now he serves as our Worship pastor while also overseeing other areas of ministry.

Jay and Vicki have two daughters, Hannah and Grace, and a Golden Retriever (Ben). They enjoy the outdoors and like to hike, bike, camp, and play sports. A favorite is running for Vicki! Jay enjoys fly-fishing and tying his own flies!
