After legal threats citing free speech rights, it was agreed that the advertisements could go up throughout San Francisco, according to Tiffany Schauer, executive director of Our Children's Earth.
"What made them change their mind was that it wasn't a legally defensible position to disallow the ad," said Schauer. So far the group has posted four posters throughout the city, and there are plans to possibly add about five more, Schauer said. The group will pay $800 per shelter ad, she said.
"We hope these ads will help MUNI figure out what people think about having to ride old, polluting diesel buses every day," Schauer said."It's a shame that we have to badger MUNI to do its job and stop coating our kids' throats with carcinogens," she added.

"This is a no-brainer issue," said Schauer.
