  Referring to the release of the First Day Cover at the same meeting, Pradeep pointed out that this was a rare event which proved that there was no real social compact like Rotary in today’s world.
  
  PP Vithal Palekar, the first speaker, said that when he became a member in 1973, it was one of the better things that had happened to him. But the best thing that happened to him (“apart from marrying my wife”) was that he became President of the Club in 1984/85. At that time, he was a young and successful professional; he was the Managing Director of a multinational corporation.

  Burjor Poonawala said that like Sandip even he was the youngest Rotarian when he joined Rotary way back in 1964. In those days, he said, not a single woman was allowed to attend meetings, except on the special ladies’ day.
  
  He also agreed with Sandip that Fellowship was one of the most important pillars of Rotary because it helped members to know each other; he remembered an embarrassing experience when he was introduced to a fellow Rotarian in London. He had no idea that the other man was a member of the Club.
