    Layne Savoie named Hogs' new assistant golf coach

    Former collegiate golfer and teaching professional Layne Savoie has been named the assistant golf coach at the University of Arkansas it was announced by head coach Brad McMakin on Wednesday.

    " I am very excited about joining Coach MaMakin's staff, " Savoie said." I feel the potential at the University of Arkansas is as good as anywhere in the country.The support and resources provided by the athletic department are the best I have seen on the collegiate level."

    Savoie has instructed players on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and the Futures Tour.He served as a team instructor for three years for Coach McMakin at Lamar while on staff at the Chuck Cook Golf Academy.Savoie has also instructed the Finnish National team in 2005 and was a camp counselor and instructor at Stanford University in the summer of 2005.
