Staff ReporterQatar Foundation (QF) chairperson HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad has appointed Mohamed Fathy Saoud as president of QF, it was announced yesterday.Saoud, who joined QF in 1997 as higher education adviser, has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2003.Saoud has been a driving force in bringing HH Sheikha Mozah's vision for QF into operation.He has led all the international agreements with the various institutions, which are now offering their education and research programmes in Education City and Qatar. Saoud has been in Qatar since 1974 when he served in the University of Qatar until being appointed founding Dean of College of Science, a position he held for about 10 years. Saoud represents QF in the Joint Advisory Boards of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar, and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.He is the vice chairperson of the Board of Governors for the Sidra Medical and Research Center.Saoud chairs the Center's executive Committee and Qatar National Research Fund's steering committee.He is also a member of the Steering Committee of University of Calgary Nursing Programme in Qatar and the executive committee of the College of North Atlantic-Qatar.Before joining QF, Saoud had a distinguished academic career in universities in Egypt, United Kingdom, Sudan and Qatar University.
