   Betty J. Santohigashi is Special Counsel in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm's Del Mar Heights office.She is the Team Leader for the E-Discovery Team firm wide.

   Ms. Santohigashi has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of business litigation matters in federal and state court, including contract disputes, unfair competition, fraud and other business torts, trademark infringement, commercial code litigation, and class actions.Her clients have included such well known companies as Northwestern Bell Phones, Lucent Technologies, U.S. West, Newcourt, C.I.T., Beneficial Mortgage, Dell Financial Services, Nextel, and AT&T Capital Corporation.
   
   Professional Qualifications and Activities
   
   Ms. Santohigashi has over 19 years experience in Sheppard's Litigation department, now the Business Trial Practice Group.She has been a member of the California Bar since 1987, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court; United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit; United States District Court - (N.C.S.) and all courts of the State of California.She is a member of the California Bar Association, Litigation section; San Diego County Bar Association, Litigation section; American Inns of Court, California Women Lawyers, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and the Federal Bar Association.She has also been very involved in San Diego's legal community.She has been an active member of Lawyers Club since 1988 and was on the Board of Directors of Lawyers Club for three years.Ms. Santohigashi was selected as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for 1995 by the San Diego Volunteer Lawyers Program, the Community Service Award for 1996 by Lawyers Club, and the Community Service Award for 1998 by the San Diego County Bar Association.She was a Co-Chair of the Women's Resource Fair Task Force for three years and has been actively involved on Task Force committees for over twelve years.She has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations.
