The waves just pounded it to death , said Rockland Coast Guard Commanding Officer Kyle Santheson. There's nothing left but debris..
Twister was not insured.
Nothing but debris was left of the Twister by Friday morning.
...
Santheson stated that Igor Sudarkin of Rockland , a friend of Kelly's , dove into the harbor and swam out to the endangered vessel.
...
According to Santheson , the Maine Lady II , a fiberglass lobster-style vessel owned by Robert Odlin of South Portland , had apparently separated from its mooring and was heading for the rocks near Sandy Beach.
...
Frustrated by the loss of the two vessels , Santheson stated that the weather was too rough and the water too shallow to save them.
The way the wind was , if just one thing went wrong we would have been on the rocks ourselves -- it was just too risky , Santheson said.If lives had been involved , it would have been another story..
