The vessel is one of four ships operated by the company with a COGES (combined gas turbine and steam turbine) combined cycle power system and, according to Bruce Sanneman, GE Marine Engines' marine programme manager, the vessel has not suffered a single COGES-related arrival or departure delay since the ship went into service.
Millennium is fitted with two GE LM2500+ gas turbines which are the subject of a service agreement between GE and Celebrity Cruises. This agreement also covers the three other Celebrity vessels powered by LM2500+ turbine-based COGES systems--Infinity, Summit and Radiance of the Seas. The eight gas turbines in these four ships have now totalled 25,000 hours of operation and have all shown similar durability. GE has to date delivered a total of 16 gas turbine gensets for 10 cruise ships.
