"It's a team approach to managing cancer pain," explains Dr. Tony Sanito, pain management specialist.
...
"Sometimes people are afraid of taking medication because they fear they will become addicted to drugs," says Dr. Sanito."Doctors need to talk openly with them about the unique needs of cancer patients and how to effectively quiet their pain.We want our patients to talk with us about options and to express their fears about being in pain, so that together we can put a plan in place. We encourage patients to let their caregivers know when they are in pain so we can make them comfortable."
Dr. Sanito is board certified in pain management and anesthesiology. He graduated medical school at SUNY Health Sciences Center in Syracuse.Following an internship there in internal medicine, he completed a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain management at University Hospital in Syracuse.
